Lavang: A Culinary Journey Through India, Right Here in Dubai— A Vegetarian’s Delight
Hey foodies! I am Rimpy Gupta, a big foodie like you!!
I always look for nice places to try and today, I’m still buzzing from an incredible dining experience I had yesterday at Lavang, one of Dubai’s true gems for authentic Indian cuisine.
As a vegetarian, finding an Indian restaurant that truly excels in its meat-free offerings can sometimes be a quest, but let me tell you, Lavang not only met but exceeded my expectations!
If you’re looking to transport your taste buds straight to the heart of India without leaving the comfort of our beautiful city Dubai , then you absolutely must add Lavang to your list.
Nestled in the heart of Downtown Dubai, at Claren Towers – 1 Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Blvd, Lavang offers more than just a meal; it’s a full-on culinary journey. From the moment you walk in, the ambiance is captivating – a sophisticated blend of traditional Indian aesthetics with a modern, chic twist. Think warm lighting, rich fabrics, and subtle aromatic spices that instantly set the mood for something special. And yes the welcoming and smiling staff ushers you inside and you are offered a nice starter drink to quench your thirst and be ready for your food journey.
We were offered complimentary drinks in short glasses to set the mood of the evening. Then we ordered drinks – kacha aam bomb, frozen margaritas, fresh lassi ( made to order) and fresh mango juice. All the drinks were served in a very artistic manner and tasted great too.

Now, let’s talk about the food! Oh, the food! Lavang’s menu is a beautifully curated collection of dishes from various regions of India, showcasing the incredible diversity of its culinary landscape. It’s clear that every dish is crafted with passion and an unwavering commitment to authentic flavors. While they certainly cater to all diners with a great variety of both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options, my focus (and delight!) was entirely on their exquisite meat-free creations.

We kicked off my culinary journey with some of their fantastic appetizers. The Pani Puri was, as always, an absolute delight – each delicate puri was perfectly crisp, bursting with a refreshing taste. Water was of 4 types- mango, tamarind, pomegranate and pineapple!! It was difficult to choose which one to try first and which is better. We also savored the unique and delicious Jalebi Chaat, a playful twist on a classic, offering a delightful blend of sweet and savory notes presented beautifully. It was certainly a surprise for us when we see a dessert being used as a chaat item!! But a starter not to be missed !

Next up was the Spinach & Beetroot Salad. This vibrant dish was a refreshing change with the earthy sweetness of beetroot perfectly complementing the fresh spinach, its colors creating a stunning visual appeal.
For the grill section, I was treated to the Mushroom Galouti Kebab. And wow, were these melt-in-your-mouth! These kebabs were incredibly tender and packed with earthy mushroom flavors, spiced to perfection, and presented elegantly. Each bite was moist from the inside, a truly impressive vegetarian take on a classic. I am impressed ❤️

Then came the mains, and Lavang offers a wonderful array of choices to suit different vegetarian palates:
For those who enjoy a modern or fusion touch, the Crispy Paneer Sliders are an innovative and incredibly satisfying dish. The paneer was flawlessly prepared – exquisitely crispy from the outside and wonderfully moist from the inside, served in a way that offered a delightful contemporary experience.

The accompanying dishes, such pasta with soya for vegetarians and chicken for non vegetarians was flavorful, and incredibly satisfying, each morsel infused with a complex blend of traditional spices.

And to conclude this magnificent meal, the dessert was a delightful Paan Rasgulla. This unique sweet offered the refreshing essence of paan infused into the classic Rasgulla. Each Rasgulla was perfectly round, incredibly sweet, and delightfully moist, almost like a sponge, soaking up all the fragrant syrup.

What truly impressed me about Lavang, beyond the exquisite food, was the impeccable service. The staff were knowledgeable, attentive, and genuinely passionate about the food they were serving, offering excellent recommendations and ensuring a seamless dining experience.
Whether you’re a long-time lover of Indian food or curious to explore its vibrant flavors, Lavang is a must-visit in Dubai.
As a vegetarian, I can confidently say that their extensive and thoughtfully prepared menu, where every dish is a testament to culinary artistry and aromatic spices, makes it a true standout.
It’s the kind of place you’ll want to return to again and again, to discover new favorites and savor the true taste of India.
